Evidence tells us that parents and whānau can have a huge impact on their children’s learning. To support schools and ECEs in their efforts to build strong learning-focused partnerships with parents and whānau, the Learning Auckland project held a “Communicating Learning Forum” in May 2014, for principals, senior leaders, teachers and board members from Auckland early learning, primary, intermediate and secondary schools.
The theme of the forum was “enhancing engagement among whānau, teachers and learners through reporting”. Participants shared ideas, practices and models for improving engagement and relations between ECEs/schools, teachers and whānau.
Speakers included:
Professor Stuart McNaughton, Director, Woolf Fisher Research Centre, University of Auckland
Joy Eaton, Deputy Director, Starpath Project, University of Auckland
Cherie Taylor-Patel, Principal, Flanshaw Road School
Jean Rockel, Senior Lecturer in ECE, University of Auckland
